Theory and Harmony Methods - Introduction
|
Welcome to our Theory and Harmony Methods page.
The Contemporary Music Theory series is the ultimate in-depth contemporary theory method, and is used by thousands of musicians (and many schools and colleges) throughout the world. These books all have extensive exercise sections with answers provided, and are great for instrumentalists, writers and arrangers:
Level One is ideal for beginners and covers notation, major and minor scales, key signatures, triads and 4-part chords, diatonic chords and alterations.
Level Two covers the chords and substitutions used in jazz and pop styles (with many progression examples from well-known songs) as well as voice leading, "upper structure" voicings and blues & pentatonic scale applications.
Level Three covers all commonly used chords including extensions and alterations, scale sources, melody harmonization, polychords and advanced voicings using our "contemporary shape concept". This book is also available with audio CDs.
The All About Music Theory book is a fun and beginner-friendly introduction to music theory, and shows how the theory concepts apply to many famous songs. This books borrows some material from the Contemporary Music Theory book series, in an abbreviated form and without the exercise material. Audio CD of examples included.
